Here’s what some of our staff alumni have to say about their experiences at Hidden Acres:
The best part of working at Hidden Acres is being able to interact with so many different people throughout the summer and being able to have so many lives come together to share their stories and create new ones
– Emily L. (Staff and volunteer from 2012-2019)
I believe that above everything camp has taught me to be patient and to love others unconditionally. Camp is a place that I can put all my effort into others, knowing that there will still be people checking in with me. I learned about what qualities others see in me, as a friend, as a co-staff, or just in general as a leader which helps influence future career decisions for sure. In general, camp is a place I know I can be my true self and others will accept and love me. Ever since I started coming to this camp, I have wanted to be a cabin leader, working here this summer felt kind of like I was living a dream.
– Jenna R. (Staff from 2017)
Talking in front of a lot of people and leading discussion has never been a super comfortable thing for me to do, but as a counsellor, the campers relied on me to initiate discussion and lead them, so it was really cool to have that opportunity to become more comfortable with this
– Jeff V. (Staff from 2014)
